Freight Policy
How shipping works
- Orders are paid at checkout by bank transfer (ACH) or card. Shipping is calculated in your cart before you pay, so there is no separate freight invoice.
- Smaller orders ship by parcel. Larger orders ship LTL freight on pallets.
- Orders ship within 5 business days of payment clearing, usually sooner. Bank payments can take a few business days to clear.
- All orders ship with our carriers. We do not ship on customer-arranged freight.
Free freight and weight discounts
Free freight and weight discounts are based on your total order weight, not the number of pallets.
- 1,400 lb and up: free freight
- 3,600 lb and up: 5% off your whole order
- 7,200 lb and up: 10% off your whole order
A pallet weighs about 1,800 lb, so 2 pallets is roughly 3,600 lb and 4 pallets is roughly 7,200 lb. Lighter products can fill a pallet without reaching that weight, so an order can be 4 pallets and still come in under 7,200 lb.
Your cart shows your total weight as you shop at wholesale.buildasoil.com. Check it before you check out, and if you are close to the next tier, a few more bags will get you there.
Liftgate and delivery appointments
Every freight order ships with liftgate delivery at no charge. If your location has a loading dock and does not need a liftgate, let us know once and we will note it on your account. Delivery appointments are also free. Tell us through the Shipping Details Form, or call or chat with us before your order ships.
Receiving your order
Every pallet is sealed with security tape and marked Do Not Stack. Before signing for your delivery, check it with our Freight Receiving Checklist, note any damage or broken tape on the driver's paperwork, and report issues to us within 24 hours with photos.
